" it is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge"

Hi my name is Emily Smith I am currently an art education major at Colorado State University and will be graduating in Spring of 2018 with my teaching license! I hope to someday further my degree by returning to school and getting a BFA in printmaking. Art has always been a huge part of my life and by far one of my greatest passions, it has inspired me, communicated ideas, shown experiences and helped me through hard times. While growing up I never really had teachers who inspired me or provided the help I needed in order to move forward and really learn the material. When in high school and early years of college I was unmotivated and developed a strong dislike of school. It became had for me to try and even want to continue going. The truth is I love learning and I needed a role model to help me find it again. I decided to become a teacher because I want to be that role model for someone, even if it just one. My goal is to help kids find an outlet and a safe place to be themselves. I hope more than anything to be an inspiration and help students find their way in some manner.
Feel free to continue to explore my website! It includes an about me section along with the courses I have taken and will be taking in the near future! Under each of my course work classes there is a description if the individual course, along with some sample works I produced for the class, along with headers that show examples of classrooms and students I have worked with over the past couple years and some examples of art work I have created while at CSU! Enjoy! |
