Rationale The documents I have picked to represent a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment for diverse learners are my classroom narrative, MTV strategy presentation and corresponding mini lesson plan. The first example is my classroom narrative which discusses the demographic and population of the classroom and the modifications, adaptions and accommodations I would make in my Poudre High School art class based on the demographic and population. I want to make sure in my classroom that all students learn, feel comfortable and safe by building relationships and getting to know my students I will know what they need as learners to be successful in the class. I will create lessons that include all my students learning needs and be able to give them the help and proper instruction they need. I also want students to feel comfortable asking questions, for modifications and adaptions for them if they need it. I want to be someone they can come to and ask for what they need no matter what it is. I am more than willing and would like advice for how to help students and modify for them so I can grow as an educator and create the best experience for my students. The second example I have included is my MTV learning strategy presentation. For this presentation we were assigned a learning strategy we could use for new and innovative ways for students to learn concepts and ideas. The strategy that I presented to my classmates was circle of viewpoint which is a strategy that has students practice exploring, understanding and hearing other peoples points of views on issues and topics. My presentation has students discussing an abstract work of art and asks questions that each students most likely has a different opinion or answer. The students were asked to share their answers with each other in the hopes to open students minds when evaluating meaning of art and push them to express their opinions by discussing a work that is open to interpretation. Artwork is very subjective and although the artist may have intent and a clear subject art is meant to invoke an emotion or reaction by the viewer which are often times very different. Discussing works of art is something that will be done constantly in the art classroom students need to be open to points of view and opinions in order develop understanding, think critical and explore in art. I hope by presenting and incorporating different MTV strategies that students will develop a greater understanding and take risks to really push their works of art while feeling confident and comfortable evaluating choices and ideas with peers and teachers.
