As a new educator I am consistently looking for ways to improve my students learning, lessons and classroom management. In order to make improvements and become a successful it is important to identify and reflect on personal strengths and weaknesses. Below are my professional teaching dispositions that highlight my areas of strength and the areas that I need improvement. After completing this form I found that professional behaviors and initiative and dependability were the areas I needed improvement. I had some personal struggles throughout the semester that lead to some attendance issues, I know when working in the classroom part of being professional is keeping your personal life outside of the classroom. I struggled with doing that at first and I found that it has been much better with time. I feel despite my improvements and growing confidence that I am still not where I should be. However based on my progress and my love for teaching and students, I think this area will no longer be an area of struggle. During the semester there were several days where I had to teach lessons while their was a sub and things went wrong and I became nervous and did not consider all of my resources and options for teaching the lesson. With experience thinking on my toes will come more naturally and I will ALWAYS have a back up plan and listed resources if something does change or go wrong. The areas I have identified as strengths are tact and judgement and commitment to profession. I have always felt comfortable getting to know and talking with students about their lives and sensitive topics without crossing lines and giving them respect so that they give me respect in return. From getting to know students I invest my time into trying to help each in everyone in the way that is most effective to them as a learner. I have always loved working with kids and have a passion for art, I want nothing more than to be a teacher and help kids reach their full potential through art. I have always invested my time into anything dealing with students and will continue to do so. Every in classroom experience has reinforced my love for teaching. Based on my dispositions I can see that I have a quite a few areas that need improvement but know that I am willing and able to improve in any way possible.
